Bologna vs Lazio Best Combined XI: Zaccagni & Orsolini on the Wings

Bologna and Lazio meet for the third time this season in Serie A at the Renato Dall’Ara, and a combined XI reflects how fine the margins are between them. It features Mattia Zaccagni and Riccardo Orsolini out wide.

They drew the reverse fixture at the Stadio Olimpico, Jens Odgaard cancelling out Gustav Isaksen’s opener, then last month’s Coppa Italia quarter-final ended 1-1 before the Biancocelesti won on penalties. According to The Laziali, the sides are separated by two points in the league, making selection a close call.

The XI lines up 4-2-3-1. Ivan Provedel is picked in goal after establishing himself as Maurizio Sarri’s first choice before a shoulder injury cut short his season. The back four is Nadir Zortea, Mario Gila, Alessio Romagnoli and Juan Miranda, with Zortea preferred despite January competition from Juventus loanee Joao Mario.

Nicolo Rovella takes the regista role, his ceiling when fit rated above Nikola Moro. Kenneth Taylor is selected box to box ahead of Lewis Ferguson, Remo Freuler and Tommaso Pobega.

Riccardo Orsolini gets the right flank, with Jens Odgaard at No 10 and Mattia Zaccagni on the left. Odgaard is described as underrated and has seven goals this season, including one against Lazio. Zaccagni edges Jonathan Rowe on current reliability.

Santiago Castro leads the line and has 11 goals as his form climbs. With Isaksen topping Lazio’s scoring on four, a Biancocelesti striker was unlikely to make this XI.
