It is no secret that Barcelona are eyeing a major defensive signing in the summer of 2026.
While the club have been linked with free agents such as Marc Guehi, Dayot Upamecano and others, Barcelona are also interested in the services of a certain Nico Schlotterbeck.
The German international is rated highly in the Bundesliga, as he offers a brilliant mix of technical prowess, aerial brilliance and defensive discipline.
However, it has been feared that Dortmund won’t let him go for cheap, considering the fact that he is simply the club’s defender right now.
However, a fresh report from SportBILD (h/t Diario SPORT) has offered an update on Nico Schotterbeck’s future, suggesting that Borussia Dortmund have set an asking price for the defender.
As per the report, the Bundesliga giants have slapped a price tag of €50 million for the services of Schlotterbeck.

This is a reasonable amount for a player who is regarded as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga right now and has the potential to reach the levels of Mats Hummels.
Not to mention, Schlotterbeck has the ideal profile Barcelona are looking for. A technically gifted left-footed centre-back, who is fast and can operate in a high defensive line.
Schlotterbeck is also quite dominant in the air, making him a threat, especially during corners and set-pieces. He has already bagged seven goals during his time in Dortmund.
Meanwhile, the German international also brings a wealth of experience. He has racked up almost 150 competitive appearances for Borussia Dortmund and has won 23 caps for the German national team.
Schlotterbeck’s price-tag report comes on the back of earlier suggestions that the German has already decided to leave Dortmund. So it will be interesting to see how things transpire for him in the coming months.
