Bournemouth have submitted a bid to sign Rayan, with the fixed fee below €35m, around R$218m, after signalling that figure earlier in the week. According to Globo.com, Vasco are assessing the proposal and are open to further offers in the coming days.

The structure on paper did not convince the board, with heavy add-ons that could raise the package to €35m.

Rayan has told the hierarchy he wants the move, attracted by the Premier League stage. He has agreed a five-year contract with the English club and left the decision with Vasco.

Even so, the club believe there is time to wait for more favourable bids. They are using the proximity of Pedrinho and Felipe to the player’s family, notably his father Valkmar, to underline that other approaches may emerge.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have recently shown interest.

Fernando Diniz and the club’s football department are also talking to the forward to keep him this window, arguing a mid-year move, during Europe’s main market, could be better. The club believe a later sale could also bring in more money.

Vasco would like to sell for around €50m, roughly R$311m, but accept that is difficult now. They are willing to start talks from €35m, with sell-on clauses or targets that could push the fee towards €50m.
