Bremer celebrates Brazil return after injuries: “I was overlooked”

Brazil was defeated by France in last Thursday’s friendly in Boston, but the match was special for center back Bremer. The scorer of Brazil’s goal, the Juventus player wore the Yellow Jersey again after nearly two years.

Bremer’s last game for the Brazilian National Team had been in June 2024, in a friendly won by Brazil against Mexico, 3-2. Shortly afterward, he also took part in the Copa América in the United States.

In October of that same year, the player suffered a serious left knee injury that kept him off the pitch for around eight months. He would still go on to suffer further injuries, which caused him to lose ground in the national team. After his good performance against France, Bremer celebrated his return.

“I’m coming off a year out because of a cruciate ligament injury. My name wasn’t being talked about much, but I always had it in my head that I would be ready when the opportunity came. Today I played a good game, I got back to my level. I hope I put in a good performance,” the player told SporTV.

Bremer also assessed Brazil’s performance in the friendly against the French. He regretted the result, but praised the team’s display.

“It was a very difficult match; France has one of the best national teams in the world. We performed well, we did what the coach asked. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal while playing out from the back. We couldn’t win, but it was a good match to show the coach that we’re here,” he said.

The national team is now preparing for its final friendly before the World Cup squad announcement. Next Tuesday, Brazil will face Croatia at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, United States. Kickoff is at 9 p.m. Brasília time.
