Sport Bild reports that Brentford are targeting 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender Almugera Kabar. The young left-back has only logged 135 minutes of Bundesliga action and had a notoriously poor outing in his lone German top flight start last season. Despite this, the West Londoners are apparently interested in preparing a €20m offer for the currently €1m-valued player.
Brentford famously prepared an oversized €70m offer for Dortmund striker Maximilian Beier. This bid was ultimately rejected by the Bundesliga outfit. Kabar was a member of the Christian Wück’s Germany U17 side that captured the U17 World Championship in November of 2023. Since then, the Bremen native has earned five caps at Germany U19 level.
Dortmund handed Kabar his first fully professional contract in February 2024. Since then, there have been reports that AC Milan and FC Barcelona were interested in securing his services. BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl is on record as calling Kabar “a physically gifted player with a strong character“.
While the teenage talent’s German club clearly remains on keeping and developing him further, it seems highly unlikely that Dortmund will refuse such a large offer from the Premier League side.
