Brentford are sweating on Mikkel Damsgaard’s fitness for Saturday’s trip to Leeds United after he took a knock in Monday’s 2-2 home draw. The 25-year-old tried to continue but was later replaced by Kristoffer Ajer.

“He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet. He had an injury a few weeks ago against Forest. It has been frustrating and he has played through a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is.” Keith Andrews told West London Sport.

The Bees led 2-0 through Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago, before Adam Armstrong pulled one back. Tolu Arokodare levelled on 77 minutes, with Damsgaard hurt shortly beforehand.

Damsgaard has three goals and four assists in 26 league appearances, 18 starts, and played 30 minutes off the bench in December’s 1-1 with Leeds.

The Forest match was on 25 January, when he departed after 36 minutes with a knee issue and missed one league game. He has since featured seven times but finished 90 minutes only twice.

He will be assessed this week and could join a growing absentee list. Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey are out until after the March break, while Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are likely done for the season.

Brentford have won only one of their last five, the 4-3 at Burnley, and drawn the last two.
