In one of the rockiest spells in Manchester United recent history, Bruno Fernandes continues to shine while the club around him wobbles.
On Saturday, the Portuguese playmaker etched his name even deeper into United folklore, becoming just the fourth foreign player to hit 100 goals for the Red Devils.
The landmark arrived barely 14 minutes into United’s clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Fernandes, always sharp inside the box, showed that instinctive knack for goalscoring and coolly opened the scoring in what would prove a crucial win.
It’s taken him seven seasons at Old Trafford to reach the century, with his tally now standing at 100 goals in 296 appearances.
By hitting United’s 100-goal mark, Fernandes has joined a very select club of overseas stars. Only Cristiano Ronaldo, the Dutch Ruud van Nistelrooy, and the Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjær have also reached this mark.
To cap the occasion, Fernandes also chalked up his 200th Premier League appearance, a run in which he’s been involved in more than 100 goals (64 scored, 39 assisted).
Bruno Fernandes is the fourth Portuguese with the most games in the Premier League, only behind Luís Boa Morte (295), Bernardo Silva (270), and Cristiano Ronaldo (236). Moreover, the midfielder has become the second-highest goal scorer in the competition, surpassing Diogo Jota - with whom he was tied at 63 goals - and only trailing CR7, who has scored 103 times.
