England star Bukayo Saka has provided an insight into the details of a classy gesture on the part of compatriot and Real Madrid standout Jude Bellingham.
This comes after the latter left the ball to Saka to take charge of a spot-kick during this weekend’s showdown between England and France.
The Three Lions were of course back in action on Saturday evening, locking horns with Didier Deschamps’ France in the World Cup’s 3rd-place playoff.
When all was said and done, Thomas Tuchel’s troops restored some pride, collecting bronze medals courtesy of a remarkable 6-4 triumph.
The aforementioned Saka proved himself the star of the show, notching a hat-trick to etch his name into the history books of international football.
And as alluded to above, affording a helping hand to his teammate en route to as much was none other than Jude Bellingham.
After England were awarded a late spot-kick on Saturday, substitute Bellingham took control of the situation, holding the ball on the penalty spot. From here, however, once things had settled, the Real Madrid man handed the ball over to Saka, who slotted home to round out his hat-trick.
Speaking to the media post-match, the Arsenal winger therefore went on to reveal:
“The penalty? Jude grabbed the ball, looked at me, and said ‘go get your hat-trick'”.
