Callum McGregor’s latest off-field decision has reignited speculation over his Celtic future after the club captain joined the same player representation agency as Brendan Rodgers.

The 33-year-old, who remains under contract at Parkhead for another two years, has signed with Unique Sports Group. Celtic striker Adam Idah, whose initial loan move to the club was orchestrated by Rodgers in 2024, is also represented by the agency.

While the change of agency does not confirm any plans to leave Celtic, it adds to growing speculation that McGregor’s long-term future at the club may not be as certain as once seemed.

For much of his career, the 33 year-old appeared destined to spend his entire playing career at Celtic. However, developments over the past six months have led to increasing discussion over whether he could eventually move on.

Reports first emerged earlier this year suggesting Rodgers was interested in bringing McGregor to Al-Qadsiah after taking charge of the Saudi Pro League side.

Although McGregor initially reaffirmed his commitment to Celtic, his comments later in the campaign suggested his future would depend on the club maintaining its ambitions.

Speaking in April, McGregor said: “I want to be at Celtic. So, as long as the club want me here and as long as the club’s ambition matches my own, in terms of playing at the highest level.

“I don’t want to sit here and be a Celtic captain who’s not winning anything. And I’ve been honest with everyone in that conversation.

“The people inside the club know it. If we’re not going to be the best version of Celtic then I don’t want to be the guy who’s not winning any trophies. That’s not me and not who I am.”

Since then, reports from the Middle East have continued to link Rodgers with a move for an experienced midfielder this summer, with McGregor among the players said to fit the profile the Al-Qadsiah boss is looking to add.
