Celtic have reportedly enquired about Callum Wilson according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, and it’s fair to say that it’s news that has mixed reviews amongst the Celtic supporters, despite our urgent need for a proven striker.
Wilson who’s time at West Ham appears to be over, despite only signing on a free transfer from Newcastle back in the summer, is attracting attention from a few suiters, with Everton also said to be sniffing around the man who’s scored 92 goals in the English Premier League during a career that’s seen him play for the likes of Bournemouth, Newcastle and the Hammers.
The Nine times capped England striker is exactly what we need at this moment in time, if he can maintain his fitness. He is a player who has been troubled by hamstring problems throughout his career and many will note that we have had enough of this in this season from hell.
On the other hand is experienced at the top level, and what’s more he’s fit (at the moment) and raring to go, having participated in the majority of West Ham’s games this campaign, scoring four goals in 18 appearances overall.

Sure like most players he’s had his injury problems, but some of the more pessimistic Celtic supporters would have you believe he’s been on the treatment table these past six months, but nothing could be further from the truth. Wilson is far from injury prone, and has performed well in a struggling Hammers side.
Callum Wilson is a player who would excel in Scottish football, indeed he would score for fun in this Celtic side who create numerous chances, chances that a player like Callum Wilson would thrive on given the opportunity.
As Anthony Joseph notes there is plenty of interest in the player including from Saudi Arabia, where he was linked to before signing for West Ham from Newcastle in the summer. The money on offer there might be the deciding factor in this one and even among the clubs in Britain looking at him as a short term goalscoring solution, Celtic’s offer is hardly like to be the most lucrative financially.
Unlikely then but stranger things have happened this season, like giving a random rookie coach with some crazy ideas the manager’s job at Celtic. You did that Michael.
