Caroline Weir is expected to sign for OL Lyonnes, with the Scotland international out of contract at Real Madrid.

According to L'Équipe, the French champions and last season's Champions League finalists should confirm the move in the coming days. It would be a major coup the club have pursued for months.

Weir, 30, joined Real Madrid in 2022 from Manchester City and made the final 30 for the last Ballon d'Or. Over the past two seasons she registered 55 goal involvements, 35 goals and 20 assists, in 82 games in all competitions.

The Scotland captain recently scored seven times across two matches against Israel. She also represented Great Britain at the 2020 Olympics.

Lyon have added goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs, who turns 25 on Saturday. The German has signed a one-year deal from Bayern Munich and will act as Christiane Endler's understudy.
