The CBF has published VAR audio explaining why Flamengo's Jorge Carrascal was dismissed for violent conduct during the interval of the Supercopa do Brasil clash with Corinthians on Sunday.

In the final moments of the first half, Carrascal caught Breno Bidon with an elbow. The incident was not penalised on the field, then during the break the VAR identified possible violent conduct and summoned referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein for review, which is permitted at any time.

Officials in the booth highlighted contact to the opponent's chin and a closed fist, deeming the action reviewable for violent conduct. They also noted there was no alternative camera angle available.

On returning to the pitch, Klein told players he had been called to view an incident unseen in real time. After watching the replays, he said he observed a punching motion with a closed fist towards a sensitive area and opted for a straight red card to number 15.

The Colombian was dismissed before the second half kicked off.
