Celta Vigo boss sends message to Real Madrid over Xabi Alonso’s future | OneFootball

Celta Vigo head coach Claudio Giráldez has moved to lavish praise on Real Madrid counterpart Xabi Alonso.

This of course comes ahead of the pair facing off on the touchline on Sunday.

The subject of Alonso’s future has of course emerged as a prominent talking point in Spain’s capital over recent weeks.

As much comes amid early murmurs that the former midfielder could be sacked, if Real Madrid’s performances do not soon improve.

One individual adamant that any such move should not even be under consideration, though, is the aforementioned Claudio Giráldez.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of facing off with Real Madrid tomorrow evening, Celta boss Giráldez was drawn on Alonso’s position on the Blancos bench.

And the 37-year-old made use of the opportunity to insist:

“Xabi Alonso is an incredible coach, one of the best in the world, a genius. If they’re patient with him at Real Madrid, he’ll do an unbelievable job there.”
