With the January market about to open, Wilfried Nancy is understood to be assessing options to reinforce his squad for the second half of the season, particularly in defensive areas.
Fresh claims suggest the new Celtic boss could turn to a familiar face from his MLS days, with the Scottish champions said to be monitoring the situation of the Bournemouth full-back, who has featured just once this season under Andoni Iraola.
According to Scottish Sun, the Premier League side would be open to approving a loan move for the 24-year-old. Araujo emerged from the academy at LA Galaxy before sealing a switch to Barcelona in 2023.
He spent the following campaign gaining experience in Spain with Las Palmas, performances which later helped secure his move to Bournemouth.

Last season saw him record 13 appearances for the Cherries, but opportunities have been limited during the current campaign despite regular inclusion in matchday squads.
Celtic’s interest comes amid a shortage of both right-centre backs and right-wing backs after Alistair Johnston suffered his second hamstring injury of the season.

That has left Anthony Ralston and Colby Donovan as the primary defensive options, with Yang Hyun-jun deployed further forward in a wing-back role.
Nancy is likely well aware of Araujo’s attributes, having previously faced him while coaching CF Montreal and Columbus Crew, shortly before the defender’s move to Spain.
Regular minutes could prove crucial for Araujo as he looks ahead to the upcoming World Cup, where Mexico will co-host alongside the United States and Canada.
He currently has 16 senior international caps after committing his future to Mexico, having previously made a single friendly appearance for the United States in 2020 before switching allegiance the following year.
