The Glasgow Derby cup tie set to be played on the weekend of 7-8th March with the scheduling decision depending on both the Premier Sports broadcasting requirement and the input from Police Scotland.

It’s probably going to be an early kick-off on one of those days and it comes just a week after Celtic are at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday 1st March.

Celtic supporters will be dreaming of a Glasgow Derby double triumph in these two matches against the latest version of Rangers to play out of Ibrox, regarding that as thrilling as a tidy BetGoodwin casino win as Martin O’Neill’s side pushes ahead on three fronts looking for a domestic double and progression in the Europa League play-off tie against Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.

Celtic will to push for a 10,000 away ticket allocation for their Scottish Cup quarter-final clash with theRangers at Ibrox, according to a report. Under the Scottish Cup rules an away side can request 20% of the ticket allocation which would give the Hoops a right to 10,163 tickets.

However that’s more that the 7500 that the Broomloan Road stand (the traditional Celtic end at Ibrox) can hold and Police Scotland are unlikely to sanction an overspill into the rest of the stadium, perhaps with an exception being the little corner that had been used for Celtic supporters in recent years after theRangers fans lobbied their new club to reduce the Celtic allocation due to the Celtic fans regularly celebrating at their stadium.

That would take Celtic’s ticket allocation to just over 8,000 and that would seem like a solution that most parties will be able to live with. Under competition regulations, the Scottish champions are entitled to apply for an expanded share of tickets after being paired with their city rivals in the last eight.

The tie is scheduled to take place across the first weekend of March, although the exact date and kick-off time are still to be confirmed. Negotiations will also be required over how many visiting fans will be permitted inside the stadium.

For league meetings between the sides, both clubs currently operate under a European-style arrangement that limits travelling supporters to roughly five per cent of capacity.

However, Scottish Cup rules allow the away side to request up to 20 per cent of available tickets, giving Celtic the option to seek a much larger presence at Ibrox.

The Daily Record reports that while no formal application has yet been lodged, Celtic are likely to pursue the maximum allocation. It is understood Celtic would ideally secure the entire Broomloan Stand, even if that falls short of guaranteeing more than 10,000 seats.

Any final decision will involve consultation with Police Scotland, given the high-profile and sensitive nature of the fixture. Safety considerations will play a key role in determining how many Celtic supporters can attend.

Representatives from both clubs are due to meet in a pre-operations planning session ahead of the match, with the Scottish FA stepping in if an agreement cannot be reached.

Before the cup encounter, Celtic will first visit Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on 1st March, where they are expected to receive around 2,000 tickets under the existing away fan arrangement.

Celtic are set for an intense spell of matches over late February and early March, featuring a congested run that includes back-to-back visits to Ibrox alongside demanding away fixtures in VfB Stuttgart and Aberdeen within just over a week.
