The Champions League’s return after a successful win against visiting Atletico Madrid, saw Liverpool travel to Istanbul where an encounter with Galatasaray was undertaken in one of the most intimidating stadiums in the world

The giant Brazilian stopper was brilliant early on to thwart a one-on-one duel. The star performer was well beaten for the penalty.

After the restart, the Reds keeper was crucial in keeping the scores at 1-0 before departing with a worrying injury.

Jeremie Frimpong – 5.0

The Dutch winger was tasked with the wide right position and though he had plenty of the ball, his delivery from wide was often lacking.

After the commencement of the match, the former Bayer Leverkusen flyer was ineffective before leaving the field.

The Hungarian international was limited going forward and reliable at the back in an unspectacular first half.

The French international defender was guilty of missing a great headed chance and seemed unsettled by the opposition attack.

In the second period, the former RB Leipzig man was poor in his positioning.

Virgil van Dijk – 5.0

The captain and leader of this team managed to keep things fairly calm despite the lack of structure around him.

After the intermission, the former Celtic giant was unable to rally the troops.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 6.0

The Hungarian skipper was tasked with right back ahead of the weekend and was unlucky to concede the penalty early on.

When the match resumed, the former RB Leipzig man was unable to make a difference.

Ryan Gravenberch – 4.0

The Dutch midfielder was sporadic in his play and gave away a silly free kick on the edge of his box in first-half stoppage time.

After the half-time break, the former Ajax prodigy was completely lacking before leaving the field.

The England international was unable to control the tempo or be that conduit from defence in a limited first half.

After the break, the academy graduate was lacking across the pitch.

Florian Wirtz – 4.0

The German creator was able to add moments of good vision, however, those moments were far too limited.

In the second half, the £116m signing was too passive.

Hugo Ekitike – 4.0

The French attacker was lively early on and should have opened the scoring when faced with the keeper.

After the break, the former PSG hitman was unlucky with the injury which forced him off.

The Dutch wide man was unlucky with a rebounded effort just before the penalty deficit at the other end.

In the second 45 minutes, the former PSV man was poor and replaced as a result.

The Dutch head coach was clearly looking for a more aggressive approach, as he shuffled the pack in Turkey.

The substitutions were a requirement for the Alisson Becker injury and due to the poor performances.
