Chelsea confirm new signing as midfielder nears exit | OneFootball

Geovany Quenda has completed his move to Chelsea from Portuguese side Sporting CP.

The 19-year-old joins for a fee believed to be worth up to £44m and has signed a contract until 2034.

“I am excited to work with my team-mates and the manager, Xabi Alonso,” Quenda said after signing.

“I’m a very hard-working young person and I like to help my team. I want to be someone known for having the right mentality to help my team-mates and who does their best for the club to win trophies.”

Chelsea had already agreed a deal last year for the then 17-year-old to head to Stamford Bridge in a double swoop which also saw midfielder Dario Essugo join the Blues from Sporting.

Young forward Jesse Derry, meanwhile, is set to head in the other direction, with a loan move to Sporting lined up.

Andrey Santos is nearing a permanent exit from Chelsea, however, with Manchester United having agreed a £50m deal to sign the 22-year-old.
