With almost a quarter of it played, Moises Caicedo continues to have a superb season.
He was pretty good for most of last year, continuing his steady build in form since arriving at Chelsea.
Now he really seems to have gone mainstream. It took a rocket goal against Liverpool to make sure everyone was seeing what we’re seeing, but now we have the attention of the league.

The midfielder has been among the top 5 players in the league according to WhoScored.
Here’s their top 5 players in the Premier League so far this season:
Caicedo’s individual stats are insane. He’s averaging 4 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per game. He has 558 touches this season, putting him in the 98th percentile, showing how much influence he’s having in games.
Also in the 95th percentile or above are his duels won, his interceptions, his blocks, his recoveries, his passes and his xG on target.
Basically, if you hadn’t noticed from watching the games, this guy is doing everything.]
It’s rare you can say that a £100m player was worth it – right now, Caicedo looks it. He can still get better too. Right now he’s defending like N’Golo Kante and offering even more on the ball. We can’t give any higher praise than that. If he keeps this up for the rest of the season, we will be in a really strong position.
The question is how to keep him fresh and rested – we’re delighted that he’s not playing for Ecuador this week, but there are still a punishing number of games to go this season.
