As previously reported, Chelsea star Joao Pedro has climbed to the top of FC Barcelona’s transfer shortlist for the striker position, overtaking Julian Alvarez due to the growing difficulties in the deal for the Atletico Madrid ace.
With the 24-year-old Brazilian now seen as the No. 1 target, Barça sporting director Deco is flying to London to hold talks with his representatives.
Building on that, Mundo Deportivo reports that Joao Pedro’s agent arrived in London today from Brazil with a packed schedule that includes meetings with both Chelsea and Barcelona representatives.
Deco has maintained regular contact with his representatives over recent weeks. Now, negotiations appear to be entering a decisive stage with the player’s agent physically present in London.

One of the main objectives of the agent’s trip is to meet with Chelsea officials and understand the club’s plans for the attacker.
Joao Pedro remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033 after Chelsea signed him from Brighton for €63.7 million less than a year ago.
Despite Chelsea viewing him as an untouchable part of their project, the fact that they will not play Champions League football next season could become an important factor in any potential discussions.
Joao Pedro’s agent will also attend Saturday’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City at Wembley.
Barcelona representatives are expected to be present as well, creating a possible opportunity for direct discussions between Deco and the striker’s camp.

The player’s representative plans to speak with Deco in the coming days to better understand Barcelona’s intentions and whether any formal approach could soon arrive.
Joao Pedro enjoyed an impressive campaign with Chelsea, registering 20 goals and six assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
This, coupled with the complications in pursuit of Julian Alvarez, has pushed the Brazilian into pole position on Barcelona’s shortlist as Deco searches for the club’s long-term solution at centre-forward.
