The Ballon d’Or gala took place on Monday night in the Teatre du Chatelet, with all eyes on Lamine Yamal from a Spanish perspective, as he sought to become the youngest ever winner of the award. There were plenty of La Liga stars involved though throughout the rankings.

The manager of year in the women’s game was Sarina Wiegman, who masterminded England’s Euros final victory over Spain this past summer, while the men’s award was handed to Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique. The former Barcelona man was just the second manager to win the Champions League with a French side.
