David Storch is planning on improving the Megastore at Hillsborough once his family complete their takeover of Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday have had a torrid year as they deal with the fallout from previous owner Dejphon Chansiri’s mismanagement.
As well as points deductions that contributed to an inevitable relegation, there were genuine fears about the future of the club.
However, whilst nothing is signed off just yet, major progress has been made in terms of a takeover, as the Storch family close in on a deal to purchase the Yorkshire outfit.
Providing it does go through, the US group will have a lot of work to do to make Wednesday competitive next season, as the squad is weak, even by League One standards.

Whilst the prospective owners will ultimately be judged on what happens on the pitch, it’s also clear they must do more to enhance all aspects of the club, with Hillsborough needing a revamp in the eyes of many supporters.
And, further details have emerged about what the Storch family plan to do once they are in place, as the Sheffield Star has revealed that David Storch is pushing to improve the Megastore at the stadium.
They explain that the roof of the Megastore will receive ‘immediate attention’ as part of a ‘major project’. Furthermore, they add that discussions have already taken place with the administrators to ensure they can make the improvements swiftly.
It’s also reported that, in the ‘medium-term’, the Owls are looking to make changes to the interior, as they look to give the Megastore a new look, which will make it comparable to some of the top clubs in the country.
Obviously, this is a long-term project for the Storch family, and the size of the task facing them shouldn’t be underestimated in terms of next season.
They will need to back Henrik Pedersen with new signings, but they will be working under restrictions, so it’s not a case that just because they are a big club they will bounce back straight away, and fans will need to be patient.

Looking further ahead, Wednesday’s improvement can’t be restricted to just matters on the pitch. The importance of commercial revenue in the PSR world is clear for all to see, and the Owls must do more on that front.
Given the size of the fan base, and the room for growth, it could be an avenue that gives Wednesday an advantage over their rivals in the Football League if it’s maximised properly.
So, it’s encouraging that Storch is looking to make changes to the Megastore, and with the potential new owner also hinting they will change the badge to the ‘Retro Owl’, he recognises that there is a need to listen to fans to help increase the commercial revenue.
Ultimately, any takeover is about raising levels across the club. Storch has already mentioned building a ‘culture of excellence’ at Wednesday when they’re in place.
To do that, they must improve facilities and set high standards themselves. All the updates suggest the Storch family are ready to do that, with a new Megastore a sign of things to come for Sheffield Wednesday.
