Confirmed Line-Ups: Manchester City vs Sunderland (Premier League)

Manchester City take on Premier League newcomers Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hoping for a much more secure performance than recent matches.

Last time out at home saw City throw away a two-goal advantage in the opening exchanges of the second-half against Leeds United, requiring a 91st-minute winning goal from Phil Foden to ensure all three points.

That outing would be followed up by an even more dramatic win at Craven Cottage, this time leading 1-5 before three goals in quick succession during the final moments of the contest required a Josko Gvardiol goal line clearance to ensure three points and a 4-5 win.

Following on from the meeting with Regis Le Bris’ high-flying Sunderland, City will return to UEFA Champions League action by travelling to the Spanish capital for their seemingly-annual clash against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Sunderland have secured some hugely impressive performances of late, defeating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, whilst also holding the Premier League leaders Arsenal to a home draw before taking a point from the Champions Liverpool at Anfield.

They will take on a Manchester City side that continues to compete without Rodri, who maintains his recovery process from a hamstring injury in October, while Mateo Kovacic is sidelined until the new year following surgery on an Achilles issue.
