Laura Coombs believes Bayern Munich's direct approach could be adopted by other teams in the World Sevens knockout stages.
City were beaten 3-1 by the German champions, meaning we finished as runners-up in Group 1.
The Blues had already qualified for the semi-finals ahead of kick-off thanks to wins over Rosengard and Ajax, but Bayern's direct style of play saw us beaten for the first time in Portugal.
Coombs was full of praise for the way in which the Bavarians approached the game and says she and her team-mates will work on methods to nullify that threat ahead of Friday's semi-finals.
"They seemed to have a real tactic going into their game," the midfielder reflected on our Bayern Munich defeat.
"They were quite direct, playing to a really strong girl up front who was setting the ball really nicely to runners.
"We haven't come up against that yet, and it's something I think we'll have to work on before tomorrow, because I think a lot of teams might adopt that now."
City will face the winner of Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United, with the pair locking horns in Group 2 on Thursday evening.
Coombs admits the chance to face our cross-city rivals in such a unique format and setting would be an exciting prospect.
She added: "We don't mind who we play, but obviously it would be special to get Manchester United out here.
"Playing them in Portugal rather than in Manchester would be amazing.
"It's been a lot of fun, it's quite intense and obviously the distance you cover is smaller.
"Communication is key, so we're having to work as a team really well. It's been testing us and it's been great."
