Corinthians’ anti-racism gestures during Wednesday’s Brasileirão draw at Cruzeiro drew coverage across Argentina and Europe. The stance, visible as the team walked out at the Mineirão, resonated widely.

Portugal’s A Bola noted players covering their mouths with their shirt collars, a reference to Gianluca Prestianni, the Benfica forward accused last week of racially insulting Vini Jr. while masking his mouth. The paper said the act carried an important message.

A Bola also recalled the racial abuse directed at goalkeeper Hugo Souza after progression past Portuguesa into the Paulistão semi-finals. Two Portuguesa supporters were identified, expelled from the club’s membership and reported to authorities.

ESPN highlighted the kit message that racism is a crime and urged reporting, while Germany’s Deutsche Welle said the gesture felt stronger than words.

In South America, Diário Olé underlined the players’ stance before kick-off and the club’s social media posts. Tyc Sports repeated Corinthians’ message opposing racism and cowardice as the team took the field.

Corinthians also turned their kit into a manifesto, adding a campaign patch from the club’s cultural department and a QR Code linking to educational content.

After the draw, the team began preparing for the Paulistão semi-final at Novorizontino on Saturday at 20h30, a single-leg tie at Jorge Ismael de Biasi.
