Corinthians call up 16-year-old goalkeeper for first time

Corinthians faces Cruzeiro in the fourth round of the 2026 Brazilian Championship, away from home, at Mineirão, at 8 PM (Brasília time). For the match, Timão had a novelty upon the delegation's arrival, the presence of the young goalkeeper Gustavo Milani, only 16 years old, replacing Felipe Longo, who felt his elbow during the week's training sessions.

Milani is a young talent who has been developed in the Corinthians' youth categories since the under-12 futsal, making his permanent move to the field only in the under-15 category in 2024. Born in 2009, Gustavo Milani has been training with the professionals at various times alongside the starting goalkeeper Hugo Souza and fellow youth graduates Kauê and Felipe Longo.

During his under-17 career, Milani caught attention for his decision-making ability by saving two penalties and being an important part of the team then led by Raphael Laruccia. Since then, the goalkeeper has already been called up by the Brazilian National Team of the category and signed his first professional contract with Corinthians, officially valid until June 30, 2028.

Despite traveling with the delegation, Milani is expected to be the athlete cut from the match and watch the game from the Mineirão boxes with the rest of the alvinegra committee. Internally, Gustavo Milani is regarded as one of the great recent gems formed in the Corinthians goal.
