Corinthians climb in Brasileirão as results go their way, see table

Corinthians didn’t take the field this Sunday, the 19th, but still climbed one more spot in the Brazilian Championship standings. After finishing Saturday, the 18th, in 12th place following a 1–0 win over Atlético-MG in Itaquera to open the 29th round of the national tournament, the team ended Sunday in 11th place after the day’s matches.

The rise in the table was made possible thanks to Grêmio’s 4–0 loss to Bahia. With the result, the southern team, which is tied on points (36) and wins (nine) with Corinthians, saw its goal difference drop from -3 to -7, falling behind the Alvinegro, since the team has a negative goal difference of four. Both remain behind Vasco and Red Bull Bragantino, who have 36 points but ten wins.

Regarding the São Paulo rivals, little has changed. Palmeiras, for example, sits first in the Brasileirão with 61 points. Mirassol is in fourth place with 52 points. São Paulo, in turn, is eighth with 38 points, two spots ahead of Red Bull Bragantino, who have 36 points.

Additionally, Corinthians remains ahead of Santos in the table, as the coastal team sits 16th with 31 points. The gap to the relegation zone, finally, is back to eight points, since Vitória, in 17th, has 28 points. Check out the full standings below:
