Corinthians clinch first away win in Brasileirão since October

On the night of Thursday (19), Corinthians faced Athletico-PR at Arena da Baixada, in a postponed match from the second round of the Brazilian Championship. The goal scored by midfielder Rodrigo Garro, halfway through the first half, lifted the Alvinegro to fifth place in the national tournament with six points – four goals scored and two conceded.

The triumph meant that the Corinthians team won as visitors in the Brasileirão for the first time since October 25, 2025. On that day, the club from Parque São Jorge faced Vitória at Barradão, in the 30th round of the national competition, and won 1-0 with a goal from midfielder Charles in stoppage time.

Since then, there had been three consecutive away defeats in the Brazilian Championship, all at the end of the 2025 season, against Red Bull Bragantino, Cruzeiro, and Fortaleza, with scores of 2-1, 3-0, and 2-1, respectively.

Corinthians now shifts its focus to the Paulista Championship. Next Sunday (22), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), the Alvinegro visits Portuguesa at Canindé for the quarterfinals of the state championship. In the Brazilian Championship, the club from Parque São Jorge will return to the pitch next Wednesday (25), at 8 pm, to face Cruzeiro at Mineirão, for the fourth round of the national competition.
