Right-back Gabriel Caipira, on loan from Corinthians, made his Betim debut in a 2-0 loss to Operário-PR in the Copa do Brasil second round, which eliminated the Minas side.
He came on late, replacing Riquelmy, and played around 20 minutes in his natural role. Betim pressed after the break but could not fashion clear chances and went out. According to Rádio TMC, a renewal with Corinthians was discussed but did not materialise and could hinge on his output at Betim.
His agreement with Betim runs until the end of 2026, which coincides with the expiry of his Corinthians contract.
His exit forms part of a broader reset in Corinthians' academy under executive Erasmo Damiani, reorganising players who have aged out of the under-20s and are not yet in the senior squad.
Without an immediate first-team opening, he trained separately after recovering from a tibial stress fracture. The injury ruled him out of this year's Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
Developed largely at Parque São Jorge, he even featured as a forward in 2024. From the same cohort as Gabriel Moscardo, Wesley and Breno Bidon, he stood out in 2025 with six assists and the captain's armband for the under-20s.
