On the afternoon of this Sunday (9), Corinthians faced Ceará at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship and ended up being defeated by the score of 1 x 0. With this result, the Alvinegro dropped to 13th position with 42 points (11 wins, nine draws, and 13 losses – 35 goals scored and 38 conceded).

In addition to the defeat, Corinthians will have an important absence for the derby against São Paulo, after the FIFA break, on November 20, in Itaquera, for the 34th round of the national tournament: midfielder Rodrigo Garro. The number 8 was shown his third yellow card at 50 minutes of the second half after complaining to the referee to put the ball back into play.

Rodrigo Garro had already accumulated two yellow cards in the matches against Santos (a 3 x 1 defeat at Vila Belmiro, in the 28th round) and Vitória (a 1 x 0 win at Barradão Stadium – 30th round). In the 2025 season, the Argentine midfielder has scored two goals and provided nine assists (second highest in the team in this category).

Since arriving at Corinthians at the start of 2024, after standing out at Talleres in Argentina, he has scored 15 goals and provided 23 assists in 95 games (81 as a starter), with 44 wins, 24 draws, and 27 losses – almost a 55% success rate. Last season, he was fundamental in the team's surge in the Brasileirão, moving up from the bottom positions and securing a spot in the preliminary phase of the Libertadores.

This year, especially in the derbies in the Campeonato Paulista, he was decisive and helped the team win the state championship against Palmeiras in the grand final at Itaquera. The victory ended a six-year title drought for the team.
