Corinthians open search for new centre-back after Tchoca seals Torino loan | OneFootball

Corinthians have confirmed Tchoca’s move to Torino and will now look for a new centre-back after their 1-0 win over Velo Clube in the Campeonato Paulista.

According to Meu Timao, the switch depended only on coach Dorival Júnior’s approval, and Corinthians will receive one and a half million euros for a six-month loan. The agreement carries a mandatory purchase for four and a half million euros if he plays at least 10 matches of 45 minutes, plus a further one million euros in achievable bonuses and 12% of any future profit.

Dorival described the move as a step in the defender’s career, noting he had risen from fifth-choice to first-team action and had attracted widespread interest. He expressed hope the player would thrive, adding that a sale was close to being defined.

Assessing his defence, Dorival said academy prospect Iago Machado, 16, is promising but not yet ready and needs more time. He believes a replacement will be necessary and does not want to rush the teenager’s development.

Corinthians face Bahia at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday in their Campeonato Brasileiro opener, kick-off 20:00.
