Corinthians right-back Gi Fernandes has been recalled to the Brazil women’s squad for April’s Fifa Series, returning after a left thigh injury cut short her first senior call-up in February.

According to Meu Timao, Brazil will host and face South Korea on 11, Zambia on 14 and Canada on 18 at Arena Pantanal, Cuiabá.

She was first named in the senior squad for last month’s friendlies against Costa Rica, Venezuela and Mexico. On 20 February she limped off during Corinthians’ 2-2 draw with Fluminense in the Brasileiro.

Days later she confirmed her withdrawal on social media, calling it a painful moment after weeks of expectation for a maiden call-up and a chance to represent Brazil at her best.

Her recovery was swift, and after the Fifa window she started in Emily Lima’s first game, a 3-2 defeat to Palmeiras on 13 March in the Brasileirão Feminino. In the 4-0 win over América-MG she did not feature, with forward Carol Nogueira filling in at right-back before injury, then Ivana Fuso came on.

Signed at the start of 2024, Fernandes established herself as first-choice in 2025, when Corinthians won seventh Brasileirão and sixth Women’s Libertadores, form that paved the way for her selection.

Since arriving she has played 57 games, 39 starts, with 38 wins, 11 draws and eight defeats, plus five goals and nine assists. Corinthians will also have Lelê, Thaís Ferreira, Duda Sampaio and Ana Vitória away, and before that face Botafogo on Friday at Estádio Nilton Santos.
