Corinthians striker has second-best scoring year at the club

On the night of last Wednesday (5), Corinthians visited Red Bull Bragantino at the Cícero Souza Marques Stadium, in a match for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship, and was defeated by a score of 2 x 1. The result left Alvinegro in tenth place with 42 points (11 wins, nine draws, and 12 losses – 35 goals scored and 37 conceded).

The Corinthians goal was scored by striker Yuri Alberto, who reached 16 goals in 50 games in the 2025 season. The team's top scorer of the year, the number 9 also surpassed his goal tally from 2023 – 15 in 63 matches. Previously, his last goal had been on October 4th, in the 3 x 0 win over Mirassol at Neo Química Arena, in the 27th round of the national competition.

His highest goal average per season at Corinthians happened in 2024, when he scored 31 in 58 games (0.53 per game), followed by 2022 (0.39 – 11 goals in 28 games), 2025 (0.32* – season ongoing), and 2023 (0.24). Of the 16 goals scored in 2025, eight were in the current edition of the Brasileirão (team's top scorer in the tournament), five in the Campeonato Paulista, two in the Conmebol Libertadores, and one in the Copa do Brasil.

Yuri Alberto initially arrived at Corinthians on loan from Zenit, Russia, in mid-2022. At the beginning of the following year, he was permanently signed from the Russian team, in a deal that involved goalkeeper Ivan, defender Robert Renan, midfielder Du Queiroz, and forwards Pedro and Mantuan.

In total, he has played 199 matches for Corinthians (170 as a starter), with 89 wins, 51 draws, and 59 draws – just over 53% success rate. In addition, he has scored 73 goals and provided 20 assists. The number 9 is Corinthians' top scorer in the 21st century and the all-time top scorer at Neo Química Arena, inaugurated in 2024, with 47 goals scored. The center forward was instrumental in winning the 2025 Campeonato Paulista, against Palmeiras, in Itaquera.
