Corinthians have opened the women’s Brasileirão with their weakest start since 2022, and head coach Lucas Piccinato has been dismissed. According to Meu Timao, early form was a factor in the decision.

The holders have four points from the first two rounds, beating Atlético Mineiro 1-0 in their opener before drawing with Fluminense.

It is the first time since 2022 that Corinthians failed to win both opening fixtures, that year they beat Red Bull Bragantino then drew with Atlético-MG. They recovered to take the title and have won every league crown from 2020 onwards, missing out only in 2019, becoming seven-time champions in 2025. They are defending that crown this season.

Piccinato and his staff, in charge since 2024 after Arthur Elias departed, left their posts following the home draw with Fluminense. The stuttering start acted as a trigger but was not the sole cause.

Corinthians also finished as state runners-up in consecutive years to Palmeiras, and lost back-to-back Supercopa Feminina finals to major rivals, which increased the pressure.

The club are now seeking a new head coach. With their next match not until 13 March, the hierarchy have time to appoint. If a replacement arrives by then, the first assignment would not be easy, with Palmeiras awaiting at Arena Barueri in the third round.
