Cristiano Ronaldo breaks yet another historic record
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make history. In the 2-2 draw between Portugal and Hungary in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Portuguese superstar netted twice and set a new record.
At 40 years old, Ronaldo scored his 41st goal in World Cup qualifying matches, surpassing Guatemala’s Carlos Ruiz (40 goals).
Thanks to this brace, he now has 143 goals for Portugal and 947 goals in his career (including both club and international appearances). He’s just 53 goals away from reaching the 1,000-goal milestone.
Despite his heroics, Portugal conceded a late equalizer against Hungary. The Portuguese will have to wait until November to secure their qualification.
