Al-Nassr have confirmed captain Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a hamstring injury and begun rehabilitation, with no return date set. The club said in a statement that he is being assessed daily.
Ronaldo went off late in the 28 February meeting with Al-Fayha after visible discomfort. He had earlier missed a penalty in the 12th minute and was replaced by Abdullah Al-Hamdan on 81 minutes.
The division's leading scorer with 21 goals is now a doubt for March league games against Neom SC and Al-Khaleej. Portugal’s friendlies against Mexico and the USMNT later this month are also at risk.
Amid regional tensions, suggestions have circulated that he left Saudi Arabia after a drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh, with flight data showing his private jet flew to Madrid overnight. Others suggest the aircraft’s movement does not mean he has abandoned his obligations, and that he is receiving treatment at Al-Nassr’s training ground.
The Asian Football Confederation has rescheduled West Region Round of 16 first legs set for 2-3 March 2026, including Al-Nassr’s tie with Al Wasl. The pause offers a sliver of respite, allowing him more time to recover without missing knockout matches.
