According to reports from The Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma (27) is being tracked by Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. The former loanee of Union Saint Gilloise is seemingly embroiled in a transfer drama at the end of the January window that has seen the Seagulls already reject an approach worth €65million.

The proposal submitted to the Premier League side for the Japanese international Mitoma has been “formally rejected” as Al Nassr work to complete the signing of striker Jhon Duran from Aston Villa. Mitoma is seen as an ideal addition for the side that finished second last season.

Mitoma last signed a new contract at Brighton in October 2023 and is under contract until June 2027. He played for Union St. Gilloise, in a loan move from Brighton in the 2021–2022 season and registered seven league goals in 27 outings in the Belgian Pro League. This was just the appropriate pre-cursor to Premier League exploits following his transition from Japanese football with Kawasaki Frontale.

Mitoma has become a firm fan favourite on the South Coast, scoring 15 goals in 75 Premier League games while lighting up the Amex with his electric dribbling style.
