Chrislain Matsima has reached full agreement with Crystal Palace over a summer move, with talks between the Premier League club and Augsburg advanced, according to FussballTransfers.

The UEFA Conference League winners are about to transfer former Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea for a fee of over €60 million, and new coach Pierre Sage wants an immediate replacement for the French international.

Matsima, 24, has made 48 Bundesliga appearances since joining from AS Monaco a couple of summers ago.

With Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Keven Schlotterbeck absent for long spells through injury and suspension, the former France youth defender became a key figure as Augsburg delivered one of their best Bundesliga seasons.

His contract runs until 2030, so Augsburg are expected to seek a fee that could rival the club-record sale, Abdul Rahman Baba’s move to Chelsea for €26 million a decade ago.
