Daniel Farke hit out at referee Chris Kavanagh after Ethan Ampadu’s booking in Leeds United’s stalemate at Liverpool left his captain suspended for Manchester United.
Ampadu was cautioned in the 61st minute for handball as he stooped to control the ball, which appeared to strike above the sleeve line on his arm, having arrived at Anfield on four bookings. “Six minutes of added time, I didn’t see where that was coming from. Then the game was over, and not many free kicks were given to us. Some yellow cards, I am asking why I am missing key player Ethan Ampadu in the next game.” Farke told Sky Sports.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room at the minute is second to none. We were rock solid as a team and stuck together. A lot of praise goes to my team and the lads.”
Leeds produced a resolute defensive display that kept the hosts at bay, particularly as Liverpool pressed after the interval.
The result extended Leeds’ unbeaten run to six games.
