Daniel Farke says his stance on Leeds United’s attacking vacancy is unchanged despite an upturn, and any signing must genuinely improve the group.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds are close to a loan for Facundo Buonanotte, a summer target whose flight was booked to join from Brighton and Hove Albion before Chelsea intervened with a Champions League offer. Since then he has played 45 minutes in the Premier League and made two European starts.

Talks to revisit the move began in late December, first drawing a line under the summer episode. He is understood to have pushed to leave Chelsea for a Leeds loan in the second half of the season. He can play right wing or as a number 10 and is a set-piece specialist.

Farke would not discuss speculation until business is official, confirming only the loan of Harry Gray. He reiterated Leeds missed out late in the summer on an extra winger or creative number 10, and any addition must add quality and character without harming togetherness.

He called January difficult, with limited options and prices high, and said there are no major injuries forcing action. Little has changed since the summer.

Despite tactical tweaks and goals, he still wants a specialist for that winger or number 10 slot. He said Leeds have more often played 4-3-3 than purely 3-5-2, wants end product and invention, and praised Anton Stach’s display at Newcastle. Any signing would increase competition rather than guarantee a start.
