Leeds United look set to make Facundo Buonanotte their first January addition, with an agreement in place for a loan from Brighton, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

The 21-year-old rejected a summer switch to Elland Road in favour of Chelsea, but after limited minutes at Stamford Bridge he now appears poised to join Daniel Farke at the second attempt.

Leeds aim to finalise the move swiftly, with the player pushing for the switch after a difficult few months. The deal would bring in the creative right winger or No.10 they pursued all summer.

Following medicals and official confirmation, Buonanotte will choose his squad number. Options include No.12, last used by Jaidon Anthony and previously by Gordon Strachan and Paul Rachubka, and No.13, often for goalkeepers and once worn by Kiko Casilla.

No.17 is free after Largie Ramazani’s loan to Valencia, with Helder Costa and Alan Smith among former holders. No.20 opened when Dan James took No. seven last summer after Joel Piroe moved to No.10.

No.24 has gone unused since Georginio Rutter left after two games last season, while No.27 was vacated by Ian Poveda, previously also worn by Alex Mowatt and Robbie Fowler.
