Rodrigo Zalazar struck in the 11th minute and converted a penalty in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time as Braga beat Nacional 2-1.
Zalazar opened the scoring with a precise right-footer from outside the box (11.), taking a lay-off before finding the bottom corner.
After the break he kept asking questions, drawing a low save from the goalkeeper (51.). Moments later, his cross teed up Pau Victor for a chance that drifted wide (58.).
Deep in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time, VAR confirmed the spot kick after a handball, and Zalazar duly buried it high from the spot to settle the game.
He finished with two goals, four shots on target from four attempts and two key passes, while winning possession 10 times – a blend of end product and graft that anchored Braga's threat between the lines.
Braga stay fourth in Liga Portugal and host Sporting CP next. Nacional visit Moreirense.
