Portuguese sporting director Deco of FC Barcelona has firmly closed the door on any possible return of Argentine legend Lionel Messi to the Catalan club, not even on a loan deal.

Speaking on Wednesday on Cadena SER, Deco admitted that a return of “La Pulga” to Camp Nou is not on the table:

“I don’t think it’s possible, and he has a contract — it was never considered.”

He continued: “Leo is Leo, he could still contribute, he’s a great player, but it’s a topic we’re not going to discuss — it’s just speculation.”

Deco also commented on the constant chants in Messi’s honor at the Spotify Camp Nou since its reopening, emphasizing that the Argentine’s legacy will forever be etched in the club and its supporters’ hearts.

He concluded by stating that Messi stands among the greatest players in FC Barcelona’s history, alongside Johan Cruyff and Ronaldinho, adding that his legacy is impossible to erase for anyone who witnessed his era.
