Liverpool defenders Gemma Bonner and Gemma Evans will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this afternoon.

Bonner is in her second spell with Liverpool. She represented The Reds between 2012 and 2018 before returning to the club in 2023. The 34-year-old has made 186 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions. She won back-to-back WSL titles in her first spell on Merseyside.

Evans joined Liverpool in summer 2024. She has made 38 appearances for The Reds in all competitions.

Commenting on the players’ departures, Liverpool head coach Gareth Taylor said “[Gemma Bonner] has been a fantastic servant to Liverpool Football Club. It’s something to be really proud of, particularly the number of appearances in her two spells with the club.

“She has been a real ambassador both on and off the pitch and she goes with our best wishes. She’s given a lot to the club.

“Gemma [Evans] is again, another good servant to the football club in a different way to Bonns [Gemma Bonner]. She’s been a really good girl to work with, she’s been a real positive for the team and for the dressing room. She’s really liked and you can see why because she’s a top-class girl to work with. She brings a level of maturity and experience to the team.”

Liverpool fans will have the opportunity to offer Bonner and Evans their best wishes when the club play host to Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday.
