DFB Sports Court rejects Bayern appeal against Luis Díaz red card | OneFootball

Bayern Munich's appeal to overturn Luis Díaz's red card has been rejected by the DFB Sports Court, ruling him out of Saturday's home game with Union Berlin.

The Colombian received a second yellow against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Bayern lodged their appeal on Sunday 15 March. The federation announced that the appeal had been dismissed.

The referee saw Díaz fall in the area without contact from the Leverkusen goalkeeper and judged it an unsporting dive. He later noticed contact with the foot on video, but Díaz had sought and made contact beforehand, so the call was not entirely wrong.

Whether TV footage might have changed the on-field call is irrelevant to the review. Only factual decisions that are seriously, clearly and beyond doubt objectively incorrect can be corrected, and this incident did not meet that threshold.

Bayern remain nine points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
