Valencia right back Dimitri Foulquier will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Thursday. He was left out of the squad to face Real Madrid and is set to miss the coming months.

The club said in a statement that the procedure will take place on Thursday and that he is expected to remain in hospital for around 24 hours after the operation. No recovery timeline was provided.

Foulquier has been managing knee discomfort since near the start of the season. A conservative approach was considered, but medical staff have now opted for surgery.

The defender already missed one month earlier this campaign with injury and has been playing continually due to Thierry being out in recent weeks.

His absence leaves Corberán with only one recognised right back in the first-team squad, while Rubo Iranzo, the academy option most likely to cover the role, is also sidelined.
