Dimitri Foulquier to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery | OneFootball

Valencia full-back Dimitri Foulquier will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Thursday, the club said in a statement.

The minimally invasive procedure will take place at a hospital in Valencia and he is expected to remain under observation for around 24 hours before discharge.

Valencia have opted to stop him after months of knee trouble that have affected his season. He was left out of the squad against Real Madrid, then attended the Paterna training base on Tuesday for treatment and assessment.

Although he had hoped to accelerate his return, his comeback will not be immediate.

Foulquier began the campaign as first choice while Thierry recovered from last season’s injury, playing 90 minutes in the first seven LaLiga matches. After the Portuguese returned, he took the starting role, though at times both featured with Foulquier operating as a third centre-back and Thierry holding the flank. When Thierry suffered another setback, only potential rotation with Iranzo or even Rioja threatened Foulquier’s minutes.
