Dimitri Payet came close to a first career trophy, but the wait goes on.
According to L'Équipe, his former club Vasco da Gama were beaten 2-1 by a Corinthians side led by Memphis Depay in the Brazilian Cup final on Sunday night.

Payet, 38, played for Vasco between August 2023 and June 2025.
In this cup run he had only a modest role, coming off the bench in the first two ties against Uniao Rondonopolis (D5, 3-0) and Nova Iguaçu-RJ (D4, 3-0) before leaving the club.
His solitary senior success remains the 2004 Coupe de la Réunion with AS Excelsior at 17. Since then no major silverware has followed, and for now that does not appear close to changing.
