Domingos Soares Oliveira interest as Al-Ittihad chase Benfica’s Leandro Barreiro | OneFootball

Al-Ittihad, where Domingos Soares de Oliveira is administrator of the SAD, are targeting Benfica midfielder Leandro Barreiro. The Portuguese club are not inclined to ease his exit and have set terms for any deal.

The Saudi side have contacted Benfica’s SAD to gauge openness and the figures required. The response pointed to a fee of around 18 million euros, according to A Bola.

Al-Ittihad view the 26-year-old Luxembourg international as an ideal replacement for Fabinho, seeking a midfielder who can operate as a 6 or an 8. Barreiro is part of Marco Silva’s squad.

The quoted sum is above what Al-Ittihad are currently willing to invest, so the club have shifted attention to other options in the market.

Barreiro joined Benfica in summer 2024 on a free transfer after his Mainz contract expired. Although the dossier is on hold, a renewed approach has not been ruled out and could depend on outcomes with other targets. The midfielder remains valued by Marco Silva and missed the last match through injury.
