Borussia Dortmund are reassessing their approach for Said El Mala after an initial bid was not entertained. Lars Ricken was asked about the 1. FC Köln winger amid ongoing speculation.
“He [El Mala] is a player for 1. FC Köln. I understand your question, but you know that we don't comment on any rumors.” He was speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten.

“It's certainly easier for new signings to break into such a team. Niko Kovac has done a very good job with that,” Ricken added.
In Köln, emphasis has been placed on the winger’s commitment in training, with no suggestion of defiant behaviour.
Even so, his desire to transfer is evident, and the next four weeks of the window offer time to find a solution.
