PSG overpowered a below-par Liverpool at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. According to L'Équipe, these are the standout numbers from the opening game.

PSG are unbeaten in their last eight Champions League knockout matches, seven wins and one draw, matching the longest run by a French club, Lyon’s eight between April 2004 and March 2006.

Liverpool registered 26 percent possession, their lowest figure under Arne Slot in any competition, eclipsing last season’s round of 16 first leg against PSG at 30 percent. Their three attempts were the second fewest in that span, only two on their previous visit to the Parc.

Since away goals were scrapped in 2021-22, six of the previous seven teams to win a home first leg of a Champions League knockout by two goals have advanced. The exception is Dortmund against Atalanta in this season’s play-offs, 2-0 then 1-4.

Liverpool have lost 16 matches in all competitions this season, their highest tally since 2014-2015 when they had 18. They are also on four straight away defeats for the first time since April 2012.

Warren Zaïre-Emery became the youngest player to reach 40 Champions League appearances at 20 years and 31 days, surpassing Jude Bellingham, who was 21 years and 164 days for his 40th in December 2024.

At 20 years and 309 days, Désiré Doué is the sixth youngest to hit 10 Champions League goals, behind Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Karim Benzema. Doué, seven goals and four assists, and Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia, eight and three, have 11 knockout goal involvements since last season, with only Raphinha, seven and six, ahead.

Luis Enrique recorded his 48th Champions League win in his 75th game, with nine draws and 18 defeats, giving him the highest win rate among managers with 50 matches or more, 64 percent.
